Оказалось, что фильм "снят по книге". Хотя правильнее было бы сказать, что это была "вольная интерпретация по мотивам".
Но книга меня затянула сегодня так, что все дела были побоку брошены. Хорошо хоть перевод успела заранее сделать.

The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by
Kody KeplingerMy rating:
4 of 5 starsYou know the feeling when you have tons of work at home but you just can't put book down until you read the last page? Or you can't go to sleep until you finish it. Well, strangely that was the case here.
I gave this book 4, but actually it's more like 4.5 Like tiny-tiny thing and it would be amazing. I'm not even sure why. I putted it on YA shelf although this is not your typical YA story. Or am I just too damn old and this is what they look like now?
I confess I saw movie first, but that was ok, cause besides characters names book is totally different from the movie. So I didn't know ahead what will happen, except for that Wesley & Bianca should be together in the end. Well, I hoped they would.
(view spoiler)[As studies tell us, it's really important lo like a hero in a romance. And here Wesley is very likable even if most part of the book he is acting as "womanizer" although if we think about that for a minute, we don't even see that. This is just a thing Bianca keeps thinking and accusing Wesley about. I'm more inclined to think that when he started "seeing" Bianca he stopped sleeping with other girls even though Bianca only noticed it after they broke up and even then it was her friend who pointed that out to her. Nevertheless, you can see that he is not at all what Bianca described him to us and everyone else who cared to listen. Well, at least as long as they are together. And remember the Valentine's day! He told her he will have tons of dates, but she calls him and he is at home, alone, playing video games! And they are sleeping together almost every day, well, every night. When does she think he has time for other girls when they are constantly together after school? That just doesn't seem reasonable.
All characters are more or less likable here. There is no such drama as in the movie. Well, except incident with Bianca's father, but it was saved by Wesley and his heroic actions. No wonder Bianca ran after that, and not because of feeling ashamed.
I liked that comparison between two guys and between how Bianca felt with them both and what felt for each of them. And I'm glad that Toby wasn't a douchebag at all, although I confess that when Wesley was calling her that day, I was afraid he was going to warn he that Toby was playing with her, or betted, or was using her. Well, he was using her, but here she was using him too, so that doesn't count. And I really like that they didn't have more time to have sex. They were both not very enthusiastic the only time they were close and you can technically count that as infidelity even though Bianca is afraid of L word and there was no commitment to their previous lovers.
I also loved that little note Wesley left on Bianca's deck and that almost-love-letter he sent to her. That was very romantic. (hide spoiler)] View all my reviews
